How we gather this

Broomfield View doesn't have a newsroom. It has a set of public data sources, refreshed every 6 hours, and a language model that turns raw agendas, calendars, and public data into readable pages. No person reviews an individual item before it goes live — the checks below run automatically, every time. Here's exactly how that works.

The sources

This list is generated from the same configuration the scrapers themselves run from — if a source is turned off, it drops off this page automatically, and nothing here is written by hand per town.

News, meetings, and listings

Meeting agendas, calendar listings, weather alerts, and similar factual items are summarized by Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic, working only from the source text — the actual agenda, the actual listing. It's instructed to use only facts present in that source and never to add names, numbers, or details that aren't there. A summary that appears to contradict its own source is rewritten or held back rather than published incomplete. Every one of these stories links back to its original source, so you can always read the full agenda or listing yourself.

Reviews, recipes, editorials, and columns

Some of what's on this site isn't a summary of one source document at all — film/TV reviews, recipes, editorials, and the science and quick-read columns are written by the same AI model, grounded in real facts (aggregate critic scores, a verified local venue, real civic data) but composed, not extracted. These are clearly AI-written and labeled as such on the page.

Before anything in this group publishes, it has to pass a set of automatic checks: that it names the right town, state, and date; that it doesn't contradict its own source material or the facts already on this site; that editorials describe civic processes without endorsing a candidate or ballot measure, or naming a private business or person as a target of criticism; and, for reviews specifically, that it never claims a confirmed local showtime or "now playing" status this site has no actual data for. A draft that fails gets one rewrite attempt with the specific problem pointed out; if it still fails, nothing is published — there's no template fallback for a piece that fails these checks.

What we choose not to name

Meeting agendas sometimes include the names of private individuals — someone applying for a variance, say, or a permit. We refer to people by role instead ("an applicant for the variance") rather than by name. Organizations, businesses, and public officials acting in their official capacity are named normally.

Illustrative photos on category and topic pages come from Pexels, each individually credited to its photographer where it appears. They represent the general subject, not a specific event pictured in the story next to them.

Corrections

If a summary gets something wrong, tell us and we'll fix it — usually within one refresh cycle, since the site rebuilds automatically. Logged corrections are public: see the corrections page.
