About Broomfield View

Local newspapers have been closing or shrinking all over the country, and small and mid-sized cities are often the first places to lose the kind of coverage that keeps residents in the loop. Broomfield View is an attempt to give Broomfield a single place to find out what's happening: a local news site assembled automatically from public sources -- city meeting agendas, the library and city calendars, county records, and official alerts.

How it is made

Software checks the sources listed below on a schedule -- most hourly, some daily or monthly depending on how often they change. New items are summarized in plain language by an AI language model, working only from what those sources say, and published without a person reviewing each one first.

That means no one is reporting from the ground here. Nothing on this site is a firsthand account -- no one attended the meeting, walked the site, or talked to anyone involved. Every summary is a machine-written digest of a public document or feed, always linked back to that original source so you can read the full thing yourself. What you won't find here

Broomfield View doesn't cover arrests, court records, or obituaries. That's a deliberate choice, not an oversight: this site exists to tell you what's happening in your town, not to follow anyone through a hard moment in their life. If you're looking for that kind of coverage, you won't find it — by design.

Who built it

I'm one person, building this in my spare time outside a day job, because Broomfield didn't have a site like it. I'm not a journalist and I don't live in Broomfield -- I write software, from Sweden, and this is what that looks like pointed at local news. I'd rather say that plainly than dress up an automated site with a fake masthead.
